The small, but expensive restaurant sat on the corner of 120 East and 56th, the small lights glowing softly in the dark sky. The couple sat in silence, and, to the public eye, looked as if they just had nothing to say. Really, Aurora was thinking of numerous was to kill the freak in front of her.

“So, what’s on the agenda to-“

“Shut the fuck up Jeremy. I mean it. I don’t feel too hot, and you’re just adding to the headache, alright? So…just be quite and this wont end that violently.” Aurora snapped, lifting her head up quickly, trying to look him down to the best of her abilities. Her vision was about as terrible as it had ever gotten. Two months and six days since the last time she fed, and it was really wearing on her. This whole thing about turning 18, she thought that that was what was causing all this strain.

And for the most part, she was right.

Within the next five minutes, the two had ordered their food, and not much to her surprise, Aurora’s headache had doubled, if that was at all possible. She had finally let Jeremy ramble on, the idea of conflict making her cringe. Suddenly, even as dull as her senses had become lately, she smelled something that was just calling her name. And what her brain was telling her was in the form of a young girl in the alleyway, just waiting to be bitten.

“You…I’ll be right back.”

“Where are you going love?”

“Okay, one, don’t call me that. Two, the bathroom. Still, while I’m gone, work on trying to keep your mouth shut, I promise that it will come in handy someday.” Walking off towards the back of the restaurant, she turned on her heal suddenly, walking behind a waiter that was going towards the front. He ignored Aurora as she stooped beside him, quickly walking out the double oak doors and out onto the brightly lit street. Shielding her eyes against the suddenly too bright streetlamps, she found the source of the aroma that was calling to her. Blindly she made her way, not even taking notice to the thing that was already hovering over her long awaited prize. Raising up its head, the other supposed human turned around to face Aurora, her eyes growing bigger at the realization as to who this person really was.

“Way?”

“Hello Aurora. Nice night to be out alone. In the city. Or are you?”

“What? Alone?”

“Yes, alone love.” He replied as nice as he could, trying to keep his cynical side out of this conversation.

“Don’t-don’t call me love.” She stammered, eyes going hazy once more on her.

“Are you alright? You seem a bit…out of it.”

“I-I haven’t…I’m feeding right now. Senses are all over-loaded. You know all about that of course…vampire prince and all…” Aurora trailed off, one hand on her hip, the other over her mouth, making sure that she wouldn’t tear him apart with her bare teeth. The smell of the blood was thick in the air and there was a small streak of it running down Gerard’s chin. It had been so long since she had her fill that she was actually considering mauling this guy for the small bit on him.

“Dear lord.” She spoke aloud, Gerard looking at her worriedly.

“You’re not doing too well. Come on.”

“Wh-what? I’ve got it. I can do it myself.” He instead listened to none of her complaints, grabbing her hand hastily and dragging her off around a corner and into another alley. He looked at her once and then looked up the fire ladder, signaling for her to go up.

“Trust me.”

“You? Trust Gerard fucking Way. My enemy in arms. Yeah. Mhmm. You know, cause that’s gonna be the smartest thing I ever do. My last breath is gonna be taken on top of some godforsaken rooftop in the middle of New York, you hanging over me with th-“

“Just shut up and go, Please?” Instead of arguing, Aurora took one last look at him, noticing in his eyes that he meant no harm to her, and grabbed the bottom rung, pulling herself up and eventually onto the roof.

There, sitting next to a vent, was a small looking boy, who couldn’t haven been any older than 14. His breath was shallow, but every so often, he would sigh in his sleep, making his chest rise up enough to signal life. She never heard Gerard come up after her, and, when he did speak, she almost fell off the edge that she was so precariously perched on.

“Who is that?”

“David.”

“…wanna elaborate?”

“He’s just this kid. His dad left him and his mom for some 18 year old whore, and, when he left, he took all the money. He had his mom, but then two weeks ago she got shot, trying to run from the police.” He took a side glance at Aurora, pure sadness covering her flawless features.
“I found him a month ago and ever since we’ve just kind of talked. He knows what I am, cause I mean, who is he gonna tell? But ever since his mom, he’s just kinda shut up. Went all recluse on me the other night, the only thing he told me though was that he was sick. I was thinking like cold sick, he was talking like…fucking pneumonia sick. And he’s not gonna make it through the next two months. I know it.” Gerard again looked at her, noticing the small tears forming in the corners of her eyes.

“So…you want me to kill him.” Aurora stated bluntly, looking at the darkly clad figure in front of her.

“Not kill per say, more like, taking away a pain that is only going to get worse, and then end horribly.” Again she looked as if she was going to cry, but only looked down and nodded her head silently, saying something inaudible.

“What?” Gerard asked softly, leaning in and down to her level.

“I said fine, I’ll do it,” She told him, but quickly brought her head up, eyes glazed over with unshed tears, “But only as long as you’re telling the truth about him.”

“About him dying a horrible death, alone and cold in the middle of fucking New York? Well, sweetheart, I’m not.” It was quiet between the two of them for a while before Aurora made her way over to the sleeping figure.

“David? David…hey buddy...” she said gently, waking the boy up slowly. He blinked his eyes a few times, rubbing them and stretching like a cat. He looked at her bewildered, obviously trying to place where he had seen her before.

“I came with Gerard.” She told him, easing his confusion slightly.

“Oh…hi Gerard…what are you doing here?” David asked calmly, looking from him to Aurora.

“Just…out, you know me.”

“Yeah, I know you…are you one of them?” David asked her, motioning to Gerard when he mentioned ‘them’.

“Yes. I am.”

“So why did you come?”

“I was on a…well, I wasn’t on a date, more just out…for dinner…with an idiot, but that’s another story.” She smiled at the kid, finally getting one from him too.

“Are you a friend of Gerards’?”

“Umm, sure. Why not.”

“You’re the other side in all of this, aren’t you?”

“You certainly know a lot about us, don’t you David?” all he did was shrug, and look over at Gerard knowingly. It was quiet when Aurora sat down from her crouching position, Gerard standing as still as a statue. The stillness was disrupted by David taking in a sharp breath, leaning over to Aurora swiftly.

“You’re here to…’help me’ aren’t you?”

“You-you could say that.” She was choking up, not even trying to hide it now.

“Well, I suppose it is best for me. I mean, I know I’m sick, and it would be better than sitting out here, night after night, just letting it get worse and worse.” He continued to talk, her only half listening, the tears now silently soaking her cheeks. Gerard was gazing at her, taking notice to her now wet face. Something pulled at his heart, him not being able to tell if it was David or her, or a combination of both.
‘It’s just David. That’s all. I feel bad for David. I feel bad for David. I feel bad for David.’ Gerard looked at the scene before him, Auroras’ soft smile through her tears; David’s coarse but young voice telling her his story of the past few months.
‘Who the hell am I kidding…myself’ he sulked silently, finally sitting down.

She was hugging her knees, listening intently to his every word. Eventually, the story came up to the point they were at in time, sitting up on the roof, quiet as could be. David let out a sigh, twiddling his thumbs noiselessly. Raising his head, he looked her in the eye, nodding his head and telling her, “I want you to do it. Please. Just…this way I wont have to suffer…and I can see my mom again.” David smiled, and Aurora unraveled herself from herself, scooting over to the boy.

“You have so much faith. And in what? If there was a God, then none of this would have happened. You would still be living in a home, have a family still.”

“I just have the knowledge that this was supposed to happen, and have the hope that there is something much better waiting for me.” Aurora smiled wide this time and leaned in close to the boy’s ear, whispering something that Gerard couldn’t catch. Before he knew it though, his short-time friend was gasping for air, clawing aimlessly at thin air. Gerard could hear the soft sounds of sucking from her, turning his head to the side, not really wanting to hear it. For the first time in his life, another vampire feeding was making him sick, just as she as a person had not an hour and a half earlier that night.

Gerard was sitting there aimlessly, looking off of the side of the building, noticing four very distinct heads. Aurora came up behind him, laying one of her now creamy pale hands on his shoulder. His skin through his black shirt was warm, and she didn’t move her hand for a while, still not sure why she could feel so comfortable around her enemy.

“Thank you.”

“For what.”

“Doing that. I couldn’t see him like that for much longer, and I couldn’t have done it myself…just…thanks.” Standing up, he walked to the edge, looking down at his friends, and debating on whether or not to ‘drop in’. Before he did anything though, he turned around and caught her by surprise. Gerard grabbed her wrist and pulled her in close, their faces not centimeters from each other, breath mingling.

“Can I tell you something, before we both have to go?”

“wha…what?”

“I think I have an obsession with you, love.” He leaned down and caught her lips in a kiss, not really caring if she kissed back or not. She did though, right about when he pulled away and smiled at her, jumping off of the roof and onto the ground below.

“WHAT THE FUCK DUDE?! WHAT DID WE TELL YOU ABOUT DOING THAT?!”

“Not to? Sorry. Come on. We’ve gotta get home.”

“But what about your princess Gee?”

“Oh, its okay. I talked to her…lets go get something to eat. I’m starving.”

~~~
“Where the fuck did you go?”
“Feeding. Sorry. My vision was blurry.”
“Oh, well…I got your food to go…love.” Jeremy smirked, waiting to see what her next emotion would be. To his surprise, she smiled, but her response, none to securing.
“Call me love again, and I will rip it off. I swear.” Aurora picked up her food and smiled sweetly, asking him if he was coming to open up the limo door for her.
“Gerard, I think you are losing your touch.”
“Mikey, I think you need to shut the fuck up.”
“No no. I’m with him.”
“Me too.”
“Frankie, Bob, shut up. Ray, don’t even.” Gerard warned, knowing that the taller boy had his mouth open. They had all wandered back into the mansion, finding their places once again in front of the T.V. in Mikey’s room, occasionally going into Gerard’s to find something.
“But you let her go.”
“Yeah…and? Your point?” He asked, annoyance showing in his voice.
“She is the princess of the Erasmus. What the fuck were you thinking? Were you even thinking?! What head were you using to think with?!” screamed Ray, throwing his long arms around wildly.
“I was using my brain, thank you. And yes I was thinking.”
“Then why did she get to prance her little ass out of here?” Gerard paused for a moment at Mikey’s question, looking down at the drawing that he was in the middle of.
“Because, I have another plan.” Smirking, he drew in his friends and his brother, his voice growing quiet as he unraveled what he and the rest of them would be doing the next night.
~~~
“So wait, how do you know that she is gonna be feeding that night?”

“Because, Ray, I could tell.”

“What, tell that she’s on empty?”

“Well, you can put it that way, yes.” Gerard had told the four of them that the next night at 8:30 sharp, they would all be dressing up in their Sunday best, telling them also that they would be having a night out.

“So, what are we going to do exactly again? And could mom and dad have our heads for it?” questioned Mikey, looking at Gerard through his thick glasses.

“Okay, at 8:30 we are all following Miss Aurora to Montebello Ristorante Italiano in New York. You guys are meeting me out side the restaurant. It’s on 120 East and 56th. With me so far?” Ray and Bob nodded their heads, Mikey looking as if he was logging it all into his head. Frank had a pained expression his face, looking at Gerard with his head tilted sideways.

“Hey, Gee, can I just go with you? I’m gonna get lost and you know that just as well as anyone.”

“Yeah, sure. But no, our parents can’t kill us over this. If they have an issue, we can just say we got restless. All right?” everyone nodded this time, turning back around to what they had been doing minutes before as Gerard and Mikey’s mother walked in.

“Hey Mrs. Way.”

“What’s up Mrs. W?”

“Hello!” Gerard sighed, knowing how much his friends sucked up to his and Mikey’s mother, trying to always be on her good side.

“Hello boys. Gerard? Mikey? Your father and I are going out to dinner tonight. Grahm is preparing your dinner. We won’t be back until…oh say 6 ish, okay? We have some other business to take care of.” She smiled and left with a wave, closing the door.

“So what’s for dinner Gee? Spaghetti? Stuffed Shells? Italian food?” Frank asked, looking at him with expectant eyes.

“How the hell should I know?”

“You know where she is going to dinner tomorrow night.” Frank stated bluntly. Gerard only shrugged and walked out of the door, throwing his eraser at Ray before running down the stairs and into the kitchen.

He ran his hands through his hair, pulling on the long, frizzy locks. “He better hope to God that I find that eraser or so help me…” Ray muttered, following Gerard downstairs. Bob laughed silently to himself as Frank and Mikey went along with the other two, the smell of pasta in the air.

Story...

“Two Households, both alike in dignity,
In fair Verona, where we lay our scene,
From ancient grudge break to new mutiny,
Where civil blood makes civil hands unclean.
From forth the fatal loins of these two foes
A pair of star-crossed lovers take their life;
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Doth with their death bury their parents’ strife.
The fearful passage of their death-marked love,
And the continuance of their parents’ rage,
Which, but their children’s end, naught could remove,
Is now the two hours’ traffic of our stage;
The which if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend. “

-Romeo and Juliet {the Prologue-Chorus}

The air around her was damp, pressing down on her body, seeming to want to suffocate her. The grass crunched softly beneath her feet, her swift movements making her invisible to the human eye, seeking out refuge in the shadows, keeping a distance from any lights. Her friends had gone ahead, keeping the coast clear for her highness. The last thing that she needed was for her parents to have to come bargain her way out of the grasp of them. The hedge was only a couple feet away, and a head could be seen over it, whispering hurriedly to her.

“Aurora! Come on! Hurry your ass up!” She was using her long legs to hop over to the tall bush when a voice rang out from the silence. She stopped dead in her tracks, the head of her friend falling behind the tall green shrub.

“So, out for a walk princess?” Her breathing stopped all together, every muscle tensing at the tone of his voice.

“Yes actually,” she said coolly, turning on her heal to watch him, “I was. Well, we were, but you weren’t talking to them, were you?”

“No, I wasn’t. Now, want to tell me what you are doing in my backyard, or would you rather the guards ask you?” He inquired snidely, his lips curling into a sideways grin.

“I can tell you. It’s no big secret. All we wanted to do was run through a few of your fountains. You know, be a little wild before my birthday and such. Kinda how you had fun on yours.” She replied, her legs taking her to the man.

“Oh yeah, I remember that…The spray paint. Ever get that off Aurora?”

“Since when have we been on first name basis?”

“No clue…just felt like annoying you.”

“We’ll, your not doing a very good job of it…Gerard.” His lip curled and it was her turn to smile as she sauntered up to him, leaning into his ear so only he could hear her.

“How’s’ about you let me and my friends go and we never speak of this again? You and your little posse.” She looked behind him, his friends standing a little ways off, flashlights in hand.

“Go.”

“Really?”

“Ask me again and I’ll bite you.”

“It won’t do anything Way. Really.”

“Want to try it out then?” he questioned nastily, walking back a few paces.

“Not really. You wouldn’t like how I taste.” Her smile never left her face as she ran to the hedge-wall and jumped over, meeting her friends on the other side.

“What did he do to you?”

“Nothing. Now come on before he lets out the lackeys.”

“Gerard? Was that who I think it was?” asked Bob, coming up beside his friend.

“Yes.”

“Then please, do tell, did she walk. Away. With out getting hurt?”

“Because I said I would.” His friend only rolled his eyes as they ambled over to the rest of their friends, continuing on inside to their retreat.

**********
“Oh Holy Hell.” She wheezed, climbing in through her window. “Never again. NEVER.”

“Aww, Ari, come on. It wasn’t that bad. He let you go. We didn’t get hurt or anything.”

“I know, but still Rose. He puts the fear of God in me.”

“Really?” piped up Linda, coming in last behind the five girls.

“Yes, really. I don’t know. It’s like he can see right through me.” She threw of her jacket, kicking her shoes off, everyone else doing the same.

“All I can say is that I am never taking another short cut through his ‘backyard’. All 36 fucking acres of it. It was so much running. I thought I was going to die.”

“Don’t be so overdramatic Aurora. Really, the only thing I was afraid of was getting thrown into a cell tonight, awaiting my execution tomorrow.”

“Oh, well, thank you miss positive.” Aurora walked off into her bathroom, turning on the light and looking into the mirror. She looked at her eyes, noticing how tired she looked. Her normally honey-brown eyes were dull and lifeless, making her look dead. Even if technically, she was dead, it never showed. They were normally full of life and bright, the sun getting a challenge from them every so often. She was trying to think of plausible reasons that would cause her only good feature, to her at least, to falter so much. Her impending 18th birthday. The news of her betrothal to a man that she couldn’t stand. The fact that she was being crowned an official Princess on her birthday…

It was too much to handle.

Her friends had been there for her and still were. Trying to help her with whatever came up. She turned the knob on the bathtub faucet, sticking her hand under it for a moment to check how hot it was.

“Guys…” their was a faint response from her room, music being heard quite clearly,

“I’m taking a bath.”

“OKAY! JUST DON’T DROWN!” hollered Amber as she strolled down the hallway past the bathroom with Natalie in tow.

“Hey, mind if we joined?” she joked, running down the stairs, most likely to the kitchen. Aurora rolled her yes, closing the door and turning the faucet off, slipping into the tub, bubbles almost flowing over the side.

“This is what I’m gonna miss the most.” She said to herself, sighing as she thought about the unpleasant incident that had happened earlier that week.

~~~~
“MOOOMMMM!” She screeched, running into the throne room, rage pouring from every pore of her being.
“Yes dear?” she asked calmly, her young, never aging face keeping its pleasant smile.
“Don’t ‘yes dear’ me mother! How could you?!”
“How could I what dear?”
“How could you sell me off to that creep?!”
“Jeremy is not a creep darling. He is a highly regarded vam-“
“NO He is NOT.” Aurora cut her mother, Maria, off. “He is not a good person! He is not lovely! And he is CERTANILY NOT respectable!” Aurora yelled, already out of breath and out of words.
“Please, don’t argue about it sweetie. Its what is best for the clan.”
“WHAT ABOUT WHATS BEST FOR ME MOM?!”
“He is what’s best for you dear. Now please, me and your father have a meeting that we need to be at shortly, if you don’t mind…We’ll talk about it later Aurora. Don’t give me that look.” She warned at her daughter, pointing her finger and giving her a stern look.
“I can’t believe you…” she threw her hands up, walking out of the hall before her mother could tell her any more.
~~~~
“Jerk-off” she muttered, standing up to get out of her bath, bubbles scattered over her and the wall. She was careful when she stood up, quickly covering herself with the towel. The first night of her knowing of her marriage, he had walked in on her as she got out of the shower, towel only inches from being wrapped around her.

“So princess, is this what I’ll be getting on our wedding night?”

“GET THE FUCK OUT!”

“Hey hey hey. Calm down sweetheart. Just wanted to come say hi.” He smirked, looking her up and down hungrily.

“Get the hell out of here! Goddamnit! GO GO GO!!!” she shooed him out, Jeremy laughing the whole way, saying something about not being able to wait until they were married.

“Hell, I may make you a woman before you even get to try on the dress.”

“YOU FUCKING PERVERT!”

‘I hope something eats him.” She thought to herself, brushing out her hair and walking back to her room, a movie, food, and her four friends’ awaiting her.
